Thx Laurent The only reason I recommended Fink over Ports is that the Imag Magick install is much harder to get right on ports.1.8.4 is on fink now, I installed it on a machine last night. I have a mac os X, and I udated thisweekend my Ruby and gems version without any problem following this article: The command uses Ruby to install the Homebrew tool.It displays a warning about using sudo and then asks you for your password to finish the installation.

I'm having trouble setting up the compy 486 to use Ruby 1.9.3.
I installed homebrew using _why's instructions ( but when I check which version is installed it's still 1.8.7.
just copy/paste the lines in your terminal window hope it helps jsn Laurent wrote: The thing about using Darwinports or Fink is they tend to install unnecessary libraries or apps.
When you install from source like the link to explains how to do you use all the OS X libraries that are already there.
