Host files are the files used by Microsoft TCP/IP for windows.
It shows the mapping of the IP address with its corresponding Host name.
Before updating BIOS on a computer that has Bit Locker enabled, make sure you suspend Bit Locker encryption before you update the BIOS.
If Bit Locker was not suspended, the computer will not accept your Bit Locker key the next time your computer boots and the only way you can start your computer is with a recovery key.
The general recommendation is: you’re fine, until you start noticing hardware compatibility issues.
In order to avoid having to get into this dilemma, you can suspend Bit Locker before you run the BIOS update utility for you computer. That page has links to the BIOS file as well as a DOS and Windows update tools.You can use the Windows program to flash the BIOS, but even if there were only a DOS verison, you could still use that by making a bootable, DOS flash drive and setting your BIOS to boot from that.
