Currently there are only configurations for 2 services, Dyn DNS and No-IP free. This will give verbose output and help you to resolve your issues.
If there is no change on the update it will not show in syslog.
To setup your Dynamic DNS, please do the following: 1. Click on DNS for said domain (this should bring you to your DNS SETTINGS page) 3. Create a Dynamic Authenticated Token by clicking on ENABLE NOTE: You may be warned that an A record already exists for the host you are making dynamic.
If you are sure you wish to make the record dynamic and stop resolving it to whatever it was before (an existing page or a parked page), simply ignore the warning and confirm the changes.
Dynamic DNS service is used to keep a domain name pointing to the same computer or server connected to the Internet despite the fact that the address (IP address) of the computer keeps changing.
This service is useful to anyone who wants to operate a server (web server, mail server, ftp server, irc server etc) connected to the Internet with a dynamic IP or for someone who wants to connect to an office computer or server from a remote location with software such as pc Anywhere. Create your dynamic records by defining your host name(s) and a TTL6.
If you're an Umbrella customer, this is the name of the Network you've enabled Dynamic updates for in the Configuration. If there are any single-quotes in your password, put backslash ( \ ) before the single-quote to escape the character.
USING DDCLIENT WITH dhcpcd-1.3.17 If you are using dhcpcd-1.3.17 or thereabouts, you can easily update your Dyn DNS entry automatically every time your lease is obtained or renewed by creating an executable file named: /etc/dhcpc/ie.: cp sample-etc_dhcpc_dhcpcd-eth0/etc/dhcpc/In my case, it is named dhcpcd-eth0and contains the lines: Other DHCP clients may have another method of calling out to programs for updating DNS entries. At my office I used to only run a DDNS Service on my router. Now I have an ARM device on the LAN that runs a DDNS Service as well. From years of using a DDNS Service on router I find it best to have the router plugged into a battery backup device with AVR (automatic voltage regulation) and Surge protection. For example if the domain you made at DTdns is : You have to create a relevant domain with this name. Then go to the panel of "Dynamic clients", choose the domain you made then set your dynamic DNS provider eg (dtdns) and associated credentials to that provider.
